Lisa Bragança is the founder of Bragança Law LLC. For more than 25 years, Lisa has successfully represented individuals and businesses in recovering millions of dollars of losses from brokers, investment advisers, and insurance companies.
As Branch Chief in the SEC Division of Enforcement, Lisa investigated offering fraud, churning, unsuitable investments, insider trading, financial fraud, and other misconduct. In private practice, Lisa was instrumental in obtaining record-breaking results in numerous cases including a federal court jury award of almost $15 million against an insurer for bad faith denial of claims and an $85 million settlement from insurers of directors and officers of LTV Steel.
At Braganca Law, Lisa recovers investor losses, protects whistleblowers, and represents financial professionals in SEC, FINRA, and other regulatory investigations. Lisa also handles a variety of financial and commercial litigation matters including breach of fiduciary claims against directors and officers and negotiation of severance agreements.
Lisa is a Leading Lawyer, a NITA trial practice and deposition skills instructor, a member of the Trial Bar for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the Women's White Collar Defense Association, and Vice Chair of the Chicago Bar Association Securities Law Committee. Lisa has been a guest lecturer for the St. John's University Securities Arbitration Clinic. She speaks often about cryptocurrencies and ICOs, trial practice, investment fraud, and elder financial abuse.
Lisa has an M.B.A., J.D. (Order of the Coif), and A.B. from the University of Chicago.
