Louis L. Straney founded his securities litigation consulting practice, Arbitration Insight LLC, after more than three decades of Wall Street senior management experience. He has consulted or testified in more than 500 engagements for Claimants and Respondents, including; the U. S. Department of Justice, the U. S. Department of Labor, and the states Securities Division of New Mexico and Massachusetts. Areas of concentration include, but are not limited to; Suitability, Supervision, Industry Standards, Rule 10(b)(5), Structured Products, Tenants in Common, Elder Abuse and Leveraged Assets.
Louis is a published author of three books on investment misconduct and fraud in addition to several articles distributed internationally. His article, “Leveraged Closed- End Funds; For a ‘Very Narrow Bank of Investors’ – Sorting the Tigers From the Tortoises”, was published in the PIABA Law Journal. His proprietary research associated with this article included the analysis of Closed-End fund design, marketing, credit line banking laws, and interviews with multiple investors and financial consultants. His book, Investor’s Guide to Loss and Recovery, is used for the study of dispute resolution by numerous business and law schools, including The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law.
Louis has been recognized as an Expert Witness in both FINRA and AAA arbitrations; Superior Court, Puerto Rico, the Queens Court, Canada, and Civil Courts in nine states including New York, California and Alaska.
He resides in northern New Mexico.
