Lisa Bragança is the founder of Bragança Law LLC, located in downtown Chicago. For more than 25 years, Lisa has successfully represented individuals and businesses in recovering millions of dollars of losses from brokers, investment advisers, and insurance companies. Lisa obtained her BA in economics and JD/MBA from the University of Chicago.
As Branch Chief in the SEC Division of Enforcement, Lisa investigated broker-dealer and investment adviser misconduct including offering fraud, churning, unsuitable investments, as well as insider trading and financial fraud. Lisa has played a key part in obtaining record-breaking results for clients including a federal court jury award of $4.2 million for breach of contract and $10 million in punitive damages against an insurer for bad faith denial of claims, and an $85 million settlement from insurers of directors and officers of LTV Steel for misconduct occurring during the course of LTV Steel’s operation as debtor-in-possession. As Legal Director of Access Living, Lisa served as class counsel in statewide class actions that are remedying statewide violations of the ADA in providing long-term supports and services to the elderly and people with disabilities.
At Braganca Law, Lisa represents investors and policyholders in recovering losses through arbitrations and in federal and state court proceedings. Lisa also represents clients in regulatory investigations, financial and commercial litigation, filing whistleblower claims, and employment disputes. Lisa is a member of the Trial Bar for the US District Court for the ND of Illinois and a NITA instructor for trial practice and deposition skills programs.
